Our county MG Coordinator, Cindy, learned first hand what damage could be done....sadly this was just as her favorite peach tree's (Reliant) fruit and leaves were shriveling up.
Cindy shared, "As soon as I saw it I knew it looked like spray damage. None of the other fruit trees were affected. Well, my husband confessed that he had not rinsed out the sprayer, thus, this is the end result."
If you can't keep a separate sprayer for each chemical, certainly keep different ones for herbicide, pesticide, fungicide, etc. One thought is to wash out with dish soap, rinse, then spray a container of water through. Final test ~ you could sprout some pea or bean seedlings and spray them with some of the water from the cleaned sprayer and see how they react.
